Biographies
The Executive Committee
- President: Rob White is the former Executive Director of the Utah Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Utah’s historic environment, and is currently on the board of directors for the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
- Vice President: Steve Gerber is an international businessman with Intercontinental Hotels, a former congressional aide and a long-time proponent of historical preservation in the West.
- Secretary/Treasurer: Scott Gutting is president of Energy Strategies, a consulting company nationally renowned for its innovative energy solutions, particularly in the areas of finance and regulation.
- Dave Nimkin is southwest region director for the National Parks and Conservation Association, the nation’s premier organization that advocates on behalf of the nation’s national parks.
- Cordell Roy is the Utah state coordinator and regional superintendent for the National Park Service. He is a 30-year veteran of the Park Service and is well versed in the management of Western natural areas, including the protection of cultural resources.
The Board
- Dr. Duncan Metcalfe is an associate professor of anthropology at the University of Utah, is head curator at the Utah Museum of Natural History, as well as director of the Range Creek Archaeological Project.
- Alyson Heyrend is currently on the staff for Rep. Jim Matheson, a three-term Democratic congressman from Utah, and a former staff member for the Nature Conservancy in Utah.
- Paul Phillips, a partner and past president of Holland & Hart, is a prominent Colorado attorney who has represented clients on all sides of environmental disputes, and who has a deep understanding of federal environmental law and conflict resolution.
- Sherry Allen is a Republican state representative from Bountiful, Utah, who has worked tirelessly in the Utah Legislature to champion legislation protecting archaeological resources and preserve the West’s unique heritage.
- Brad Barber is a Salt Lake-based environmental consultant and is the former deputy director of the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget under the administration of Gov. Mike Leavitt.
- Mark Raming is executive vice president of SWCA Environmental Consultants, one of the West’s largest cultural and natural resource consulting firms, where he is responsible for corporate development. He has 25 years experience as an environmental planner and landscape architect.
- Del M. Draper is manager of State Governmental Affairs for the Williams Companies in its Western Region and is a prominent natural resources attorney with considerable experience working with local, state and federal governments.
- Dr. Joel Janetski is a professor of anthropology and director of the graduate student program at Brigham Young University. He is one of the nation’s leading archaeologists working on the northern Colorado Plateau and eastern Great Basin.
